I am particularly fond of the scene in «On Her Majesty’s Secret Service» when James Bond under the disguise as Sir Hillary Bray is escorted by helicopter to Blofeld’s mountain top lair «Piz Gloria». The scene is neither dramatic, action packed or indeed crucial to the plot of the film, but the stunning view, beautiful scenery and vivid colours combined with John Barry’s magnificent score has always touched me.
This was one of the very first tracks I knew I had to include on this album, and it was consequently one of the first ones I worked on. I tried to give it somewhat of a Pink Floyd / David Gilmour-ballade feel, while keeping the atmosphere of the original. Airbag-guitar player and David Gilmour-expert Bjørn Riis kindly agreed to play lead guitar on this one and certainly intensifies the Pink Floyd vibes. Petter Lien plays the beautiful soft trumpet, Oda Rydning the glockenspiel, Øyvind Brøter the Hammond B3 and acoustic piano while the rest is done by me. This is one of my favourites on the album and it turned out exactly like I imagined it.
